7.2km Road in Kratie Province, Cambodia, Completed 100%, Boosting Economy and Flood Resilience

A 7.2-kilometer road connecting Ou Sei Commune (Kratie City) and Da'r Commune (Chit Borei District) in Kratie Province, northeastern Cambodia, has been 100% completed. The road features concrete pavement and a two-layer asphalt surface (DBST). This road serves as a vital link for residents of Murum Village, Da'r Commune, facilitating the transportation of agricultural products, daily commutes, and crucial evacuations of people, livestock, and property during the rainy season's floods. It is also essential for transporting rice harvests during the dry season. The project is part of the Cambodia Road Connectivity Improvement Project (RCIP), with this segment being within the CW1.1 package. The overall RCIP initiative in Kratie Province involves the development of 14 roads totaling 134.4 kilometers. As of July 2026, construction on the 14 roads under the RCIP in Kratie Province has reached approximately 88.29% completion of the overall plan. These road improvements are public investments by the government, implemented through the Ministry of Rural Development with loan funding from the World Bank (WB), aimed at enhancing connectivity for various business activities and boosting economic growth in rural areas. Residents of Murum Village expressed their relief, stating, "We no longer face the difficulties we did before. Both during the dry and rainy seasons, transporting and harvesting rice, and moving cattle during floods has become much easier. Furthermore, this road now serves as a safe refuge."
