Motor vehicle odd/even driving system abolished

The system of driving and using motor vehicles with the odd/even number plate system has been abolished starting from September 9, said Dr. Khai Khai Soe, spokesperson for the State President's Office. It was stated that the odd/even system was implemented starting from March 7, 2026, for motor vehicle usage for the country's energy security and fuel conservation due to global political changes and military conflicts in the Middle East. Dr. Khai Khai Soe said that although energy could be saved by implementing this system, they also understood the difficulties faced by the public in their travel and expressed gratitude for the public's cooperation. It was stated that currently, as the situation regarding the country's energy has begun to stabilize, the government has abolished the system of driving motor vehicles by distinguishing between odd and even days, prioritizing the interests of the public. However, Dr. Khai Khai Soe also requested the public's continued cooperation, as the QR code odd/even system for refueling vehicles will continue to be maintained for the country's energy security and the benefit of the general public.
