Final Evaluation of Newly Constructed Asphalt Road in Battambang Province to Enhance Local Community Convenience
Cambodia's Ministry of Rural Development Undersecretary of State, Chim Sokha, led the final evaluation of a 4km double-layer asphalt road constructed in Samlot District, Battambang Province. The road is expected to improve local residents' mobility and boost economic activities.
On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, H.E. Chim Sokha, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Rural Development, led an inter-ministerial committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Economy and Finance to conduct a final evaluation of the completed construction of a 4,000-meter-long, two-layer asphalt road. The road, 6 meters wide, features gravel-mixed earth shoulders on both sides, each 0.5 meters wide and 0.2 meters thick. The project also includes a 18-meter-long concrete bridge, a triple-barrel culvert, and a road name sign, located in O'Chrab village leading to Boeng Run village, in Chamkar Chek and Samlot communes, Samlot District, Battambang Province. The construction was implemented by the Construction and Engineering Department of the General Department of Logistics and Finance, Ministry of Interior. The evaluation and assessment were attended by H.E. Chea Sun, Secretary of State and working group of the National Committee for Rural Development of the Ministry of Rural Development, representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Department of Rural Road Infrastructure Development, the Procurement Unit, and the Battambang Provincial Department of Rural Development. H.E. the Secretary of State had a meeting with residents living along the road, who expressed their joy and happiness to receive additional achievements from the Cambodian government through the Ministry of Rural Development. In the past, the Ministry of Rural Development has paid great attention to the construction, maintenance, and improvement of rural infrastructure to facilitate the travel of citizens to access various public services and conduct business, thereby helping to increase household income. Following the inspection and discussion with the contractors, technicians, and the inter-ministerial committee, the committee unanimously agreed to accept and validate the completed road.
