Cambodia-Korea Economic Council Discusses Labor Migration and Cooperation

Ambassador Kuon Ponreak of Cambodia to the Republic of Korea held a meeting with Mr. Kim Dohyung, Chairman of the Cambodia-Korea Economic Council (CKEC), at the Cambodian Embassy in Seoul. During the meeting held on the afternoon of July 27, 2026, Mr. Kim informed the Ambassador about the planned visit of a delegation from Pyeongtaek City, South Korea, to Phnom Penh next month, August 2026. The purpose of this visit is to establish cooperation with the Phnom Penh City Hall, universities, civil society organizations, and other relevant institutions in the capital. Mr. Kim also highlighted the growing demand for E-9 visa (non-professional employment) foreign workers in the industrial sector in Pyeongtaek City. He expressed his intention to promote an increase in the quota for Cambodian workers in Pyeongtaek City, citing that many employers highly praise Cambodian workers for their diligence and loyalty to their work. Ambassador Kuon welcomed the initiative to establish cooperation with the Phnom Penh City Hall and thanked Mr. Kim for his desire to accept Cambodian E-9 workers for employment in Pyeongtaek City. The Ambassador further stated that the embassy would assist in coordinating meetings between state and private institutions during the delegation's visit to Cambodia, expressing hope that the visit of Mr. Kim and his delegation to Cambodia would be fruitful and successful.
