Jakarta Launches Initiative to Boost Household Waste Sorting

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Environmental Service (DLH) in collaboration with Srikandi Jakarta has launched the Srikandi Jakarta Environmental Care Movement with the theme "Separate Garbage from Home for a Clean and Sustainable Jakarta" at the Tebet District Youth Center, South Jakarta. This activity is coupled with the launch of the Tebet District Srikandi Peduli Village as part of efforts to increase public awareness of the importance of sorting waste from home. The Chairperson of the Jakarta Srikandi, Nena Syafrudin, said waste management could not only be the responsibility of the government, but also required community involvement. "Maintaining the environment is not only the responsibility of the government, but is a shared responsibility. By getting used to sorting garbage from home, we have made a real contribution to realizing a clean, healthy, and sustainable Jakarta. Women have a strategic role as drivers of change in the family and community environment," said Nena in her statement, Wednesday, August 5. This program supports the policy of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in reducing waste from sources through active community participation and strengthening the circular economy. Srikandi Jakarta invites the public to get used to sorting organic, inorganic, and hazardous and toxic (B3) materials from home. "Through collaboration between the government, community, and society, it is hoped that a culture of environmental care will grow and become part of daily life. Let's work together to realize a clean and sustainable Jakarta. Starting from home, starting now," he said. The activity was attended by government officials, RW and RT leaders, environmental cadres, PKK, Dasawisma, and Posyandu cadres. During the event, the organizers held a socialization of waste sorting from homes, circular economic education, demonstrations of organic, inorganic, and B3 waste sorting, and the launch of the Tebet District Srikandi Peduli Village.
