Lacson Continues Probe into Alleged Anomalous Taguig Projects

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson announced on Saturday that his team is diligently continuing its investigation into alleged anomalous flood control projects in Taguig City, aiming to reach a “logical conclusion.” Lacson stated that his team has not “slowed down” in following up on leads, even working on a weekend to maintain the momentum gained since the investigation began. He reiterated that their goal is to bring the probe to its intended end. Previously, Lacson had hinted at significant “damning evidence” and a thickening plot in his investigations. He revealed that his team found three additional P100-million slope protection projects, bringing the total insertions to P2.385 billion. He pointed out that two of these items appear to be double appropriations for the same slope protection project, suggesting that one of them must be a “ghost” project. Lacson’s initial update on alleged ghost projects in Taguig City involved documenting two case studies of P100-million slope protection and drainage projects, which amounted to P2.085 billion out of the P6.79 billion in budget insertions under the 2025 General Appropriations Act. This investigation is unfolding amidst an escalating political feud between Lacson and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.
