Cambodia Court Upholds 14-Year Sentence for Rapist of Two Minor Nieces
The Cambodian Court of Appeal has upheld a 14-year prison sentence for a man convicted of raping two minor girls, who were his wife's younger sisters. The incidents occurred in separate instances in Kandal province in early 2025.
Phnom Penh: On August 4, 2026, the Cambodian Court of Appeal announced its decision, upholding a 14-year prison sentence for an individual convicted of raping two minor girls, who were the biological younger sisters of his wife. The incidents occurred on separate occasions in Kandal province in early 2025. Presiding Judge Kov Sao stated that the accused, Chhuon Chhuon, a 45-year-old male, was initially sentenced to 14 years imprisonment by the Kandal Provincial Court on December 10, 2025, for the crime of rape with aggravating circumstances, as stipulated by Article 241 of the Penal Code. The accused appealed the entirety of the Kandal Provincial Court's ruling. He was apprehended by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Police following a complaint filed by the victims' relatives. The accused had allegedly committed rape multiple times against the minor victims, who were his sisters-in-law, on separate occasions in early 2025 in Kandal province. Source: CEN Cambodia
