PAM Jaya Partners with Workers' Unions to Achieve 100% Drinking Water Service Target in Jakarta

PAM Jaya, the state-owned water utility for Jakarta, has convened its annual Union Gathering, an event designed to foster stronger industrial relations as the company navigates its transformation into a Perseroda and pursues the ambitious goal of achieving 100 percent piped drinking water service coverage for all residents by 2026. The gathering involved four key labor unions: SP PDAM Jakarta, SPAI PDAM Jaya, SPAJ, and PUK SPDT FSPMI PAM JAYA. Management representatives and officials from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government were also in attendance, underscoring the collaborative nature of the initiative. This annual forum is crucial for facilitating dialogue between PAM Jaya's management and its labor unions. It provides a platform for coordinating strategies and aligning efforts to support the company's ongoing transformation agenda and service expansion targets. Purnomo, who heads Industrial Relations and Worker Welfare at the DKI Jakarta Provincial Office of Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy, commended the event. He emphasized that effective communication among all stakeholders is paramount for maintaining harmonious industrial relations and ensuring the enhancement of public services. "We appreciate this activity as a forum for communication between trade unions at PAM JAYA. Good communication will strengthen togetherness in uniting the vision and mission, namely realizing 100 percent drinking water service for Jakarta residents. Therefore, the continuity of activities like this needs to be maintained so that all parties can work together to realize a common goal," Purnomo stated on Monday, July 20. Aligning the vision and mission between company management and its workforce is also seen as essential for sustaining and boosting the company's productivity. Fachmi Islam, the Chairman of SP PDAM Jakarta, highlighted the Union Gathering as a vital mechanism for solidifying collaboration between the company and its labor unions. He expressed confidence that a unified and strong worker organization would significantly contribute to the success of PAM Jaya's transformation initiatives. A notable development discussed during the gathering was the merger of SPAJ into SP PDAM Jakarta, a move that signifies the consolidation of worker organizations aimed at enhancing synergy and collective support for the company's objectives. Dwy Wisnu Bagus Priyanto, Chairman of PUK SPDT FSPMI PAM Jaya, reiterated his union's commitment to fully supporting all strategic programs initiated by PAM Jaya management. He specifically pointed to the company's efforts to achieve universal drinking water service coverage as a key priority. "We fully support all strategic programs carried out by the PAM Jaya management, especially in efforts to achieve the target of 100 percent coverage of drinking water services for Jakarta residents.
