Cambodia Marks 33rd Constitution Day in Takeo, Reaffirming Pillars of Independence and Development

The Kingdom of Cambodia celebrated the 33rd anniversary of the "Constitution Day" with a ceremony organized by the Takeo Provincial Administration. This event aimed to express respect and recall the contributions of the Constitution, the supreme law of Cambodia, which serves as a strong foundation for ensuring peace, stability, and development in all sectors. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Yos Nasi, Chairman of the Takeo Provincial Council, and Mr. Vey Samnang, Governor of Takeo Provincial Administration. Attendees included members of the Takeo Provincial Council, deputy governors, heads and deputy heads of provincial departments, city/district governors and deputy governors, civil servants, and armed forces. During the ceremony, Mr. Vey Samnang, Governor of Takeo Provincial Administration, clearly highlighted the historical value and indispensability of the Constitution in leading the nation to peace and development to this day. He recalled that the Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia is the fruit of historical achievements, officially adopted by the Constitutional Assembly on September 21, 1993, and subsequently promulgated by His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk. The meaning of this supreme law is a meticulous integration of "traditional Khmer values" (Nation, Religion, King) and "modern values" (democracy, human rights, and the rule of law). It draws its entire content from Annex V of the Paris Peace Agreements. The integration of these two pillars has created a strong driving force to coordinate and resolve all political crises and legal issues, as well as to ensure harmony in Cambodian society as a whole, in line with the actual evolution of society. The Cambodian Constitution has been amended ten times, and one additional constitutional law has been enacted to respond to the actual needs of the nation. Mr. Vey Samnang further stated that through 33 years of history, the Kingdom of Cambodia has achieved numerous significant accomplishments, in line with the original spirit of the Constitution's preamble: rebuilding the nation into a land of complete and abundant peace under the revered umbrella of His Majesty the King. The Provincial Governor emphasized that based on the strong foundation achieved so far, the Royal Government of the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly, under the dynamic leadership of His Excellency Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, is firmly committed to continuing to follow the constitutional path. The Royal Government will continue to strengthen national solidarity, and resolutely protect political peace, stability, and national unity. This will support the political regime and pave the way for development through the "Pentagon Strategy," with the goal of achieving Cambodia's vision by 2050 as a high-income country.
