Vietnam Pays Tribute to Fallen Heroes on War Invalids and Martyrs' Day

Across Vietnam, commemorative and tribute activities honoring heroic martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution have been organized ahead of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day on July 27. The northeastern coastal province of Quang Ninh has completed DNA sample collection from the remains of all unidentified war martyrs buried at 18 cemeteries across 15 localities by July 14. This program is a profoundly significant political communication event, reflecting the care and responsibility of the Party, State, military, and society towards the search, recovery, and identification of fallen soldiers' remains. It also expresses the deep gratitude of today's generation to the martyrs who sacrificed their youth for national independence, freedom, and peace. Deputy Director of the Vietnam Cinema Department Do Quoc Viet said this year’s film week marks a new step in state management of cinematography, as the entire nationwide cinema system is participating for the first time in screenings serving political tasks and commemorative activities on a non-profit basis. Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, pledged that all 24 houses will be completed before August 30 so residents could move in. This year’s international volunteer teams include 48 Malaysian students and 45 students from Indonesia, Cambodia and Laos who are studying at universities across Ho Chi Minh City. These activities aim to enhance national unity and development, and strengthen social solidarity under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
