AI Summary

Nam An Aesthetic Hospital in Vietnam has launched the 'Glow-up Summer' program to support young people with acne and scar treatment. The initiative offers free professional skin diagnostics and treatment, encouraging evidence-based care over unreliable social media advice.

Nam An Aesthetic Hospital has launched the "Glow-up Summer" program, encouraging young people to approach acne treatment with professional consultation rather than experimenting with unscientific methods. The campaign aims to help them "Stop the FOMO effect, find what your skin truly needs." Under the program, 20 selected individuals will receive direct examination, skin analysis, and ongoing support from specialist doctors. Participants must register via an online form and share the program's post publicly on their personal Facebook. The application period runs until July 31. Even those not selected will benefit from free skin analysis and consultation with doctors to better understand their skin conditions and appropriate care routines. Dr. Nguyen Pham Hoang Kim from the Dermatology Department at Nam An Aesthetic Hospital noted an increasing number of cases presenting with scars, hyperpigmentation, or prolonged damage after self-treatment for acne. Many young people frequently change cosmetic products and skincare routines based on social media trends without seeing improvement. "Young people invest heavily in skincare products but don't truly understand their skin conditions," Dr. Hoang Kim explained. "They lack proper assessment of their skin's state. Constantly changing products according to online trends can delay treatment and increase the risk of scarring." This often leads patients to seek medical help only when acne is severe or complications like scars and hyperpigmentation have appeared, making treatment more time-consuming, costly, and arduous. Dr. Hoang Kim warned that skin inflammation might not always be acne but could indicate other dermatological issues like dermatitis, folliculitis, or boils. Misdiagnosis and self-treatment based on unverified information can lead to incorrect treatment, prolonging the condition or making it more complex. "Identifying the correct skin condition before treatment is crucial. After examination, doctors will provide an accurate diagnosis and select a suitable treatment plan, including topical or oral medications, or necessary interventions," she advised.
