Cambodia Courts Fujian Investors to Boost Trade, Tech Cooperation

XIAMEN, China, Sept 8, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia is seeking to deepen trade, investment and technology ties with China’s Fujian Province as Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol led a high-level delegation to the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen. Sun, who also serves as First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), attended a series of engagements aimed at strengthening private-sector networks and attracting Fujian investors. At a luncheon hosted by Xiamen Hongda Taxation Service Limited, which organized Cambodia’s pavilion at CIFIT, discussions centered on expanding commercial exchanges and building new investment channels. The delegation also visited SDIC Intelligent Information Technology, where officials were briefed on digital forensics, cybersecurity and e-government solutions — technologies seen as supporting Cambodia’s push for secure and sustainable digital growth. Later, Cambodian representatives joined an Investment and Trade Dinner Reception hosted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), providing another platform for dialogue with international partners. The activities form part of Cambodia’s broader investment-promotion drive at CIFIT, where officials have been working to connect domestic businesses with global investors. The mission also included talks with senior Fujian leaders on expanding bilateral trade and investment cooperation. Cambodia underscored the importance of continued economic engagement with Chinese and international partners, particularly as it seeks to attract new capital and accelerate development of its digital economy.
