Vietnamese Student Accepted to 5 Prestigious Global Universities, Forges Future Through Academics and Social Contributions

Huynh Khuong Nguyen (born 2004), a student at the University of Foreign Language Studies (University of Da Nang), has successfully gained admission to master's programs at five prestigious universities worldwide. With a strong academic record, research achievements, and social activities, this young woman is confident and ready for her journey into the global arena. Nhan Dan had a conversation with Khuong Nguyen (pictured) to understand more about her diligent and proud journey. Reporter (PV): Congratulations on your excellent results. Could you share more about your admission results and your choice of study? Huynh Khuong Nguyen: From the moment I started studying English Pedagogy at the University of Foreign Language Studies (University of Da Nang), I set a goal for myself to study abroad. In my final year of university, I applied for master's programs at five universities and consecutively received acceptance letters and admission offers from Durham University, Bristol University, University of Glasgow, University of Cambridge, and most recently, the University of Oxford. Notably, I also received a full scholarship from the University of Oxford. After careful consideration, I decided to pursue a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics at this esteemed institution. According to my plan, I will begin my studies in October. PV: You must have put in a lot of effort to achieve this success. Please share your journey to realizing this dream. Huynh Khuong Nguyen: As soon as I entered university, I strived to achieve the highest possible GPA and began to challenge myself with scientific research and competitions. In the following years, while maintaining my academic performance, I also participated in many community and international activities of the city to develop myself. Currently, I have an IELTS score of 8.5, TOPIK 4 in Korean, and have received academic encouragement scholarships from the University of Foreign Language Studies for six consecutive semesters. I was also the valedictorian of the entire university at the graduation ceremony at the end of July, with a GPA of 4.0/4.0. PV: We understand that besides your academic and research achievements, you have many charitable educational projects. Could you elaborate on them? Huynh Khuong Nguyen: Recognizing that e-learning materials help make English teaching more effective, but not everyone can do it, especially older teachers who are not tech-savvy. To address this, I started building and developing the website Pinny Teaching, which compiles nearly 100 games, lessons, and flashcards designed and created entirely in English, suitable for various age groups so that English teachers can download and use them for free as teaching resources. The website has been operational since October 2024 and has attracted over 12,000 users worldwide. Following that, in September 2025, my two close friends and I founded the project “EchoEd - Where Knowledge Echoes” to provide free English teaching for children at House 4, Da Nang City Street Children's Support Center. Every week, I dedicate two sessions to teaching English to dozens of children here, helping them get closer to this language. This past June, I concluded a free online English class - Reading TOEIC with over 100 students nationwide. Building on this success, I am currently enrolling students for a "TOEIC Reading Practice" course with approximately 100 participants. All tuition fees collected will be converted into an operating fund for the charitable projects I am implementing at the Da Nang Street Children's Support Center - Family No. 4. PV: As someone who studies and researches English teaching methods, do you have any advice for people to conquer this language? Huynh Khuong Nguyen: My effective learning method is "language immersion"; everyone should be exposed to English as much as possible. Choose to watch, listen, and read about your favorite fields in English. If you like music, listen to English music; if you like watching movies, watch English movies; if you like reading newspapers, read English newspapers. As for myself, I enjoy watching makeup and beauty videos, so I frequently watch English channels on YouTube. Besides, cultivate the habit of thinking in English to improve vocabulary; practice continuously, use it constantly to avoid forgetting. In the beginning, it will certainly be very difficult, but everyone should persevere with daily practice, never give up, and you will surely reap the "sweet fruits."
