Quick-Thinking Woman Escapes Serial Armed Robber in Kamphaeng Phet

KAMPHAENG PHET – A 29-year-old woman narrowly escaped a terrifying armed robbery and kidnapping attempt in Kamphaeng Phet province. The incident occurred on the Khao Nang Thong-Sa Kaeo road as she was riding home from work. A man on a motorcycle cornered her, brandishing a knife and forcing her to stop. The attacker, identified as 30-year-old Kwan, attempted to hijack her motorcycle and ordered her to disable her phone. Instead of complying, the victim, Khanoon, pretended to put her phone into airplane mode while secretly dialing the 191 emergency line. When Kwan realized she had contacted the police, he panicked and veered off the road into a sugarcane field. Khanoon bravely jumped from the moving motorcycle to save herself and hid in the tall grass. From her hiding spot, she called 191 again, providing her GPS location. Local police quickly responded, rescuing her and initiating a manhunt for the suspect. Investigators tracked Kwan down and arrested him at a hideout on September 7. Police discovered Kwan is a dangerous serial offender. Hours before his arrest, he had attacked another man, tying him up and stealing his wallet. He was also riding a motorcycle stolen from Surat Thani province on September 3. Notably, Khanoon had previously gone viral online after being defrauded in a call center scam that emptied her bank account. Authorities praised Khanoon's composure and quick thinking, which led to her swift rescue and the suspect's apprehension.
