Pedestrian Fatalities in Bukidnon Highway Crash Prompt Traffic Law Enforcement

A male pedestrian died after being struck by a pick-up truck along the national highway here at dawn on Saturday, September 5. Investigators from the Valencia City police station are still working to identify the victim. According to initial police reports, the incident occurred at around 3:00 a.m. in front of a private hospital along the highway. The pedestrian reportedly crossed the highway from the eastern side to the western side and was struck by the front left portion of the truck. The victim sustained severe injuries from the impact and was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, where attending physicians pronounced him dead at 3:10 a.m. The driver and the vehicle were taken into custody and brought to the police station for verification and proper disposition. Following the incident, Police Lieutenant Colonel Bryan Panganiban, city police chief, announced that authorities will strictly implement traffic laws and conduct random checkpoints to ensure motorist safety.
