Prabowo Approves Increased Special Allowances for Indonesian Defense Ministry and Military Personnel

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has approved an increase in special allowances (tunjangan kinerja) for civilian employees of the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) and personnel of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). The increments are stipulated in Presidential Regulations (Perpres) No. 42 and 43 of 2026. Brig. Gen. Rico Ricardo, Head of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defense, confirmed the issuance of the presidential decrees, stating that the ministry has received copies and is proceeding with their implementation according to applicable regulations. The Ministry of Defense welcomed the policy as a form of government appreciation for the achievements in bureaucratic reform and the enhanced performance of the ministry and the TNI. "We hope this adjustment will further motivate all personnel to continuously improve their professionalism and quality of service in carrying out their duties to safeguard national sovereignty and support the government's strategic programs," a ministry representative said. Ricardo clarified that the amounts specified in the leaked copies of the presidential decrees align with the actual figures. He emphasized that the allowances are determined by job position rather than military rank. For instance, the Chief of Staff of the Army (KSAD), Navy (KSAL), and Air Force (KSAU) are set to receive a special allowance of Rp48,613,500 per month. The Deputy Chiefs of Staff of the TNI, Army, Navy, and Air Force will receive Rp44,874,000 per month. Other officials and personnel will have their allowances adjusted according to their respective job classes as outlined in the decrees.
