On the afternoon of August 31, 2026, a delegation of 25 Chinese businesses and investors held discussions with H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), to gain detailed insights into "Strategic Opportunities and Large-Scale Investment in Cambodia." The delegation, led by Dr. Wang Boyong, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy (CIIDS), and facilitated by the Cambodia National Business and Investment Promotion Association (CamTIPA), sought new investment opportunities in Cambodia. According to Dr. Heng Vuthy, President of the National Federation of Cambodian Business and Investment Promotion Associations, the Chinese delegation comprised representatives from high-level strategic research institutions such as the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, as well as various strategic sectors including new and renewable energy, the digital economy, AI, modern manufacturing, agriculture, e-commerce, logistics, and capital markets. Among them were representatives from major companies and advanced technology firms like OCEANO China Investment, Beijing Juntian Hangyu Technology, and Helio New Energy. The primary objective of this meeting was to allow Chinese investors to receive direct and official information from the CDC regarding Cambodia's economic outlook, development priorities, government policies, priority sectors for attraction, tax incentives, investment facilitation, and Qualified Investment Projects (QIPs). Furthermore, the meeting served as an opportunity to explore concrete cooperation projects between Chinese companies and Cambodian partners. CamTIPA, along with Cambodia Security, is committed to serving as a bridge connecting state institutions, international investors, and capital markets to transform mutual opportunities into tangible and long-term investment outcomes in the Kingdom of Cambodia. During the occasion, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol extended a warm welcome to the delegation, acknowledging their visit to Cambodia to directly understand its abundant investment potential and opportunities, with the aim of considering Cambodia as their next strategic investment destination. Concurrently, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister recalled the successful official and friendship visit to the People's Republic of China by Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen, and the continued leadership of Cambodian delegations in deepening investment promotion between the two countries. He highlighted Cambodia's favorable investment climate, including peace and political stability, macroeconomic stability, a new investment legal framework offering high facilitation and incentives, a skilled young workforce, and a favorable geographical location. H.E. Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed that the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the wise and visionary leadership of Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister, always considers the private sector as the engine and an indispensable partner in national economic-social development, continuously implementing effective and proactive measures and mechanisms for investment maintenance. He also highlighted the new initiative, "Open Day with DPM," the first official program of which is scheduled for September 1st. Simultaneously, he emphasized the need for investment in processing raw materials such as cashew nuts, mangoes, cassava, and corn, as well as in the electronics and automotive sectors, to increase added value and boost national economic growth. Through this discussion, the business and investment delegation had the opportunity to brief on the current status of their business operations, specialized expertise, and their vision and planned projects for selecting Cambodia as their next strategic investment destination. Additionally, the delegation raised several technical questions regarding the investment climate, respectfully seeking guidance and clarification from H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol.
