Kachin State plans to build soybean oil extraction plants in Myitkyina and Mohnyin

It has been learned from the Kachin State government that plans are underway to construct 50-ton capacity oil extraction plants using the solvent extraction system, which can also yield animal feed, in Myitkyina and Mohnyin, through the cooperation of the government, private sector, and farmers. This oil extraction system is said to produce pure oil and ensure high quality. To establish soybean oil extraction plants, U Ye Ye Swe, the State Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, along with state-level officials and representatives from the State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held discussions on September 16. In Kachin State, six major oil crops are cultivated and produced, including soybeans, peanuts, sesame, sunflower, mustard, and poppy seeds. Out of a total cultivated area of 104,004 acres, soybeans are grown on 25,208 acres. Regarding the establishment of soybean oil extraction plants, it is estimated that approximately 300,000 tins of soybeans can be processed based on the current cultivated area and yield, which will lead to increased edible oil sufficiency and stable income for soybean farmers. Therefore, it is essential for the government, private sector, and farmers to collaborate for success, stated Minister U Ye Ye Swe. Following this, attending officials and representatives from the State Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed the advantages of establishing the plant, the requirements for setting up a soybean oil extraction plant, areas of interest, and potential implementation methods.
