Pattaya Beach Recording Dispute Leads to Assault, Man Injured Amid Conflicting Accounts

PATTAYA, Thailand – A 26-year-old Myanmar national sustained a head injury and other bruises after an alleged assault by a group of three to four transgender women on Pattaya Beach late on August 30. Pattaya rescue officials were alerted around 11:40 p.m. to a physical altercation on the beachside walkway opposite Soi 13/1. Police and rescue volunteers responded to the scene. At the location, three men were found, including Khon Aye Maung, 26, who had a laceration on his head. Rescue workers provided immediate first aid. Siriphong, a 35-year-old Pattaya City Special Affairs officer who was driving nearby, reported seeing a group of approximately three to four transgender women cross the road toward the beach before the alleged attack. He stated he attempted to intervene and contact authorities. Conflicting accounts have emerged regarding the incident's catalyst. The alleged assailants reportedly claimed the men had harassed them earlier, prompting their return for confrontation. Conversely, one of the injured men stated that the group was simply walking along the beachfront and recording the surroundings with a mobile phone, which apparently angered the group and led to the argument and subsequent attack. Pattaya police are investigating these diverging narratives. They are questioning those involved and witnesses, and reviewing available evidence to identify the perpetrators and ascertain the precise events leading up to the assault.
