Vietnam-Russia Relations Continue Strong Development, Benefiting Both Peoples and Regional/Global Peace

Vietnamese President To Lam, also General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, has paid a state visit to the Russian Federation at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin. During his visit, President Lam granted an interview to TASS Russian News Agency, sharing his perspectives on the current state and future of bilateral relations. In the interview, President Lam emphasized that relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation are "continuously developing strongly" for the benefit of both peoples and for regional and global peace and cooperation. Both countries agreed to further deepen their ties by strengthening political trust, expanding cooperation in economy, trade, and investment, and promoting exchanges in culture, education, and science and technology. Notably, the Russian side has reportedly proposed new cooperation frameworks, such as a "Vietnam-Russia Red Journey," as concrete initiatives for the future development of bilateral relations. This is seen as an expression of the desire to build cooperative ties suited to the new era, based on the historical friendship between the two nations. Furthermore, a Russian Deputy Prime Minister expressed an intention to elevate Russia-Vietnam cooperation to "new heights," underscoring the importance of the strategic partnership between the two countries. The news that the Mayor of Moscow was awarded the title of "Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation" is also cited as an example of the deepening human interaction and mutual understanding between the two nations. Vietnam adheres to its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, and development. Strengthening relations with Russia is positioned as part of this policy. While prioritizing domestic stability and economic growth under its one-party system, Vietnam also values the maintenance and development of its traditional friendly relations with Russia as it diversifies its international engagements.
