Thanh Hoa Province's Vice Chairman Temporarily Oversees Provincial Administration

In Vietnam's central Thanh Hoa province, a personnel decision has been made for Vice Chairman Mai Xuan Liem to temporarily oversee the operations of the Provincial People's Committee (UBND). This decision was made by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to ensure the continuity of administrative functions until a new provincial chairman is appointed. This move follows the appointment of the former Provincial Chairman Nguyen Hoai Anh as Deputy Minister of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs. Vice Chairman Mai Xuan Liem will also concurrently oversee party affairs during this interim period, a decision likely based on his previous experience in similar roles. Mai Xuan Liem, 52, is a native of Thanh Hoa province. He was elected Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee in October 2019 and currently holds the position of Standing Vice Chairman. The Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee also includes three other Vice Chairmen: Dau Thanh Tung, Le Quang Hung, and Cao Van Cuong. Under Vietnam's one-party system, appointments to key positions in local governments are typically made with the approval of central party organizations. Such personnel changes are aimed at maintaining the stable operation of local administration and minimizing any impact on economic growth. Thanh Hoa province is one of the regions experiencing significant economic growth in recent years, driven by the development of industrial parks and infrastructure improvements.
