■ Preparation needed for the construction of an underground railway line in Yangon City Myanmar is striving to ensure sufficient electricity consumption under the current circumstances, and therefore, it is encouraging the domestic production, installation, and use of battery-powered train heads on some railway routes, said State Administration Council Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. State Administration Council Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing made these remarks while inspecting the Diesel Locomotive Workshop (Malawe Gon) of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Myanma Railways, accompanied by the Chief Minister of Yangon Region, the Commander of the Yangon Region Military Command, and responsible officials on the morning of July 28. During the trip, the State Administration Council Chairman stated that it is necessary to continuously conduct research and development to produce and use higher quality railway locomotives domestically. He also said that when producing machinery and equipment, efforts should be made to ensure fine workmanship and durability. Furthermore, he stated that staff housing should be systematically constructed to enable railway staff to live at a high standard. The State Administration Council Chairman said that construction projects must be completed within the period specified for each fiscal year. He also said that steam locomotives must be repaired and maintained in their original form and put back into service. To ensure the robustness of railway tracks, ballast must be adequately supplied, and sleepers must also be systematically installed. For railway lines that are not yet operational, repair and maintenance work must be carried out to ensure they are ready for the resumption of train services. Railway locomotives must be inspected, repaired, and maintained according to their specified operating hours, the State Administration Council Chairman said. The State Administration Council Chairman said that since railway transportation is used by a large number of people, operations must be carried out systematically to ensure the accuracy of departure and arrival times. He also said that passenger coaches must always be kept clean and tidy, and efforts must be made to maintain them so that passengers can ride with discipline and enjoy a comfortable and high-standard journey. Furthermore, while discussing the continuous development of railway transportation services, the State Administration Council Chairman said that as our country is striving to ensure sufficient electricity consumption under the current circumstances, we are encouraging the production, installation, and use of battery-powered train heads domestically on some railway routes. The State Administration Council Chairman said that overpasses must be constructed at busy railway crossings, and preparations must be made for the construction of an underground railway line in Yangon City. He also said that when constructing railway lines, building train cars, and developing railway transportation infrastructure, future technological requirements must be considered and calculated in advance. The State Administration Council Chairman said that it is necessary to make advance plans for the operation of train cars using electricity in the future. He also said that it is necessary to continue to expand, install, and produce DEMU train cars domestically with our own designs. He added that it is necessary to continuously study overseas train car construction technologies and to further develop our country's train car construction. He also said that repair work must be carried out to ensure the good condition of railway bridges, the State Administration Council Chairman said. Following this, the State Administration Council Chairman inspected the DEMU train sets that have undergone regular inspection and maintenance work at the Diesel Locomotive Workshop (Malawe Gon) and gave necessary instructions based on the explanations provided by the responsible officials.
