Northern Vietnam braces for heatwave followed by scattered showers

Northern Vietnam is forecast to experience a temporary decrease in rainfall and an increase in sunny periods starting from July 21. Some areas, particularly in the plains, may see heatwave conditions. However, this respite is expected to be short-lived, as the region is predicted to return to rainy and thundery weather from late on July 22. Meteorological authorities are urging caution due to the potential for sudden weather changes. In Vietnam, while economic growth continues under the one-party system, addressing extreme weather events due to climate change has become an urgent issue. In the northern regions, in particular, the combination of high summer temperatures and humidity followed by severe weather phenomena could impact agriculture and infrastructure. Furthermore, as economic ties with China have strengthened in recent years, domestic infrastructure development and disaster preparedness are also being closely watched as factors influencing economic sustainability.
