Dong Nai Province: Criminal Case Opened Following Serious Traffic Accident

Authorities in Dong Nai City, Dong Nai Province, have initiated a criminal investigation into a serious traffic accident that resulted in a fatality and multiple injuries. The investigation is being conducted under Article 260 of the Penal Code for violations of road traffic regulations. According to the Dong Nai City Police, on September 14, the investigative agency decided to prosecute a criminal case for violations of road traffic regulations. The incident occurred around 4 PM on September 9, on Dang Van Tron Street, Hiep Hoa neighborhood, Tran Bien ward. A pickup truck (license plate 60C-233.44) driven by Mr. L.H. (65 years old) collided with a 16-seater car (license plate 60H-192.80) driven by Mr. L.V.T. (70 years old). The pickup truck then continued to collide with a taxi (license plate 60H-153.42) driven by Mr. T.M.T. (39 years old), a motorcycle (license plate 60F1-646.61) ridden by Mr. P.K.B. (36 years old), and another motorcycle (license plate 60F2-917.94) ridden by Ms. H.N.T. (35 years old), all traveling in the opposite direction. As a result, Mr. P.K.B. died at the scene. Ms. H.N.T. sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Initial assessments indicate Ms. H.N.T. suffered only superficial abrasions, with no signs of serious health issues. The involved vehicles sustained damage, with property loss estimated at approximately 70 million VND. Immediately following the incident, the Director of the Dong Nai Provincial Police Department directed the Office of the Investigating Police Agency to lead the investigation, in coordination with relevant units, to examine the scene, vehicles, and the deceased. The aim is to gather evidence for strict legal proceedings. Furthermore, the Traffic Police Department was instructed to intensify patrols and strictly handle violations that directly cause traffic accidents on Dang Van Tron Street and in the Tran Bien ward area, and to proactively implement preventive measures to avoid similar incidents. The Dong Nai City Police Investigation Agency is continuing to collaborate with functional forces to consolidate the case file and process the incident in accordance with legal regulations.
