Vietnam's Judiciary to Implement Digital 'Work Progress Reports'

Vietnam's Supreme People's Court is set to establish a digital 'work progress report' system across the entire judiciary in the near future. This initiative was confirmed during a meeting chaired by Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Central Committee Secretary and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, on September 8, 2023. The meeting reviewed the progress of implementing key digital systems, including the document management system, the task assignment and personnel evaluation system for officials and civil servants, and the online judicial services portal. A central focus of these efforts is the completion of the 'Case Management Platform,' which is envisioned as the core digital infrastructure for the development of an electronic court system. The judiciary has expressed a strong commitment to the successful development of this platform. Additionally, the meeting confirmed the need for a unified strategic direction to support the redesign of tax management processes. This push for digitalization within Vietnam's judiciary aligns with the government's broader policy agenda to enhance administrative efficiency and combat corruption, characteristic of its one-party system. The modernization of the legal sector is seen as crucial for fostering a more transparent and responsive justice system, which in turn is vital for attracting domestic and foreign investment and bolstering international confidence in Vietnam's economic and governance framework.
