Dak Lak's Ethnic Minorities Boost Community Tourism for Cultural and Economic Gains

In Vietnam's central highlands province of Dak Lak, community tourism promotion policies targeting ethnic minority communities are yielding initial, steady results. These policies are contributing to improved conditions for receiving tourists, creating new employment opportunities, and increasing incomes. They are also empowering ethnic minority communities to play a leading role in tourism development. Specifically, initiatives that link cultural preservation with tourism hold significant importance for both regional economic revitalization and cultural heritage. Dak Lak province has set a goal to maximize the value of its unique heritage and foster tourism as a key economic sector, as outlined in Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW adopted at the 6th Plenum of the Party Central Committee in November 2022. This strategy is positioned as part of the broader economic growth strategy of the Vietnamese government, aiming for sustainable development and economic diversification. The support for ethnic minority communities extends beyond mere economic benefits, serving as a motivation for them to take pride in their culture and traditions and pass them on to future generations.
