PM Greenlights 'Thai Choo Thai Plus Phase 2' for Economic Stimulus

Thailand's Prime Minister has given principal approval for the second phase of the 'Thai Choo Thai Plus' economic stimulus program. This initiative aims to alleviate the economic burden on citizens and support the domestic economy. The first phase of Thai Choo Thai Plus is currently in its final month, and the transition to a second phase is at a stage where the Ministry of Finance will assess the current economic situation to determine its implementation and duration. Phraedon Prisanannuntakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the Prime Minister has given his principal approval for the second phase, and if the Ministry of Finance deems it appropriate and necessary, it can be implemented promptly. Regarding funding, approximately 40-50 billion baht remains from the initial emergency economic recovery loan of 200 billion baht, which can be allocated. Furthermore, the government emphasized that it possesses "multiple sources of funds," indicating that in addition to the regular budget, a new loan of approximately 400 billion baht can also be utilized if necessary. This suggests ample financial backing is available should the economic situation require further support. The 'Thai Choo Thai Plus' program seeks to stimulate domestic demand and strengthen support for small and medium-sized enterprises and individual entrepreneurs, thereby aiming for economic stabilization and recovery.
