Today (July 20) at 2:15 PM, six jet aircraft bombed the area between Kyauk Taw and Mauk Taw, a local resident told Mizzima. "We heard that bombing has just occurred between Kyauk Taw and Mauk Taw. We heard that the shelling is still ongoing. We heard it was six aircraft," the person said. Yesterday, in the afternoon and evening of July, jet aircraft carried out unprovoked bombings in Mae-i town, a sub-township of Taungup, and towards Thandwe city, according to local residents. These attacks resulted in deaths and more than 10 people suffering severe injuries. In recent days, there have also been bombings in Gwa township, and the junta has been bombing even parts of the road connecting to Kyaukphyu township. The Arakan Army (AA) is working to gain full control of the remaining townships by the end of 2026, and offensives are accelerating in the Ayeyarwady region bordering Rakhine State, according to regional military sources. In the current situation, the AA is establishing more than five fronts in many places, including Sittwe, Kyaukphyu in Rakhine State, Nat Chaung, Padaung, and Kyaukpanhtaung in Magway Region, and Ayeyarwady Region. To prevent the junta from entering, the AA has secured strong bases in Saw Township and Minthun region, according to a regional military source. "The junta, finding it difficult to predict the AA's offensives, seems to be struggling to predict where to deploy more troops. The military council is unable to keep up with the AA's operational tactics and replenish ammunition and manpower. Under pressure from China, they are being pressured to cease hostilities. As Rakhine does not accept this, airstrikes on innocent civilians are increasing," the person told Mizzima. CDM Captain Zin Yaw also wrote on his social media page today, July 20, as an analysis, that administrative mechanisms are being effectively implemented in townships other than Sittwe, Kyaukphyu, and Man Aung.
