Site of Vietnam Army's Preventive Medicine Institute Founding Designated Provincial Historical Relic

The site where the Vietnam People's Army's Preventive Disease Team (now the Army Institute of Preventive Medicine) was established in Khuan Lang village, Yen Trach commune, Thai Nguyen province, has been officially recognized as a provincial historical relic. To commemorate this significant event, an awarding ceremony for the relic designation was held in the commune on September 4. The ceremony was attended by Colonel Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Head of the Political Department of the General Department of Logistics and Techniques; Major General Tran Cong Truong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Military Medical Administration; leaders from the Army Institute of Preventive Medicine; and local leaders of Yen Trach commune. On September 17, 1951, amidst the challenging wartime conditions, the Military Medical Administration decided to establish the Preventive Disease Team. This unit is the predecessor of the current Army Institute of Preventive Medicine under the Military Medical Administration, General Department of Logistics and Techniques, Vietnam People's Army. This decision held profound strategic significance, laying the foundation for protecting soldiers' health in a fierce war environment. Throughout its 75-year history of development, the Army Institute of Preventive Medicine has made numerous significant contributions. It was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces during the resistance war against American aggression and has received many other prestigious honors from the Party and the State. As part of the program, the Army Institute of Preventive Medicine provided free medical examinations, health consultations, and medicines to local families, particularly those of martyrs and disadvantaged households. Additionally, the General Department of Logistics and Techniques donated a solidarity house to the family of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Quang, a policy beneficiary and a near-poor household in Na Hien hamlet.
