The influx of foreign filmmakers to Thailand led to the country generating 4.025 billion baht in revenue during the first half of this year thus reinforcing Thailand’s position as a key destination for the global film industry. Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, deputy spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, said 302 foreign film crews applied for filming permits with the Department of Tourism thus showing the confidence of producers worldwide in continuing to choose Thailand as key production base. The H1 2026 investment of 4.025 billion baht is more than half of the total recorded in 2025. This increase, coupled with large-scale filming projects gearing up for launch in the second half, could lead to a new record high in 2026. The five countries/special administrative regions with the highest investment value were: the United States (1.543 billion baht), Hong Kong (322 million baht), Finland (300 million baht), Germany (297 million baht), and the United Kingdom (230 million baht). “This success reflects Thailand’s potential as a world-class film production destination, in terms of filming locations, professional crews, production support systems, and internationally competitive investment promotion measures,” she said. Helping this industry is the Thailand Film Incentive Measures, with a rebate of up to 30% for foreign film crews.
