Kelvin Waves are also expected to be significant in Riau Islands, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu, Lampung, the Karimata Strait, West Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi. Contributing to the potential for rain amidst the expanding dry season are the formation of cyclonic circulations in the waters west of West Sumatra, the Makassar Strait, and the Pacific Ocean north of Papua. These systems are creating convergence and confluence zones stretching across the western Indian Ocean off Sumatra, the western Sumatran coast, the eastern coast of East Kalimantan, the Makassar Strait, the Pacific Ocean north of Papua, and around the centers of these circulations. With the combination of these factors, rain remains a possibility in several Indonesian regions in the coming days, even as the country generally transitions into its dry season.
