Cambodia Directs Intensified Voter Registration Awareness for 2026 Elections

The Siem Reap Provincial Election Secretariat has urged relevant authorities at all levels to intensify widespread public outreach regarding the process of verifying and registering voters for the 2026 elections. This process is scheduled to take place from October 7 to November 30, 2026, at commune/sangkat offices nationwide. During a meeting on September 17 concerning cooperation and measures for security, safety, and public order for the 2026 voter list verification and registration, Mr. Nim Vansom, Director of the Siem Reap Provincial Election Secretariat, stated that extensive dissemination of information is crucial to ensure citizens are well-informed and can exercise their voting rights correctly in accordance with the law. He emphasized that the meeting also aimed to strengthen cooperation between the Provincial Election Secretariat, competent authorities, armed forces, and relevant officials to ensure the voter list verification and registration process proceeds smoothly with good security, safety, and public order. Concurrently, Mr. Nim Vansom appealed to eligible citizens to check their names on the voter list and register within the specified period, ensuring the list is accurate, complete, and regularly updated. Mr. Chek Kimchhun, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province, highlighted that ensuring security and safety for the voter list verification and registration process requires close collaboration from local authorities, the National Police, the Royal Gendarmerie, and all relevant parties to fulfill their roles in accordance with laws and procedures. He also instructed municipal/district authorities and competent forces to prepare clear security plans at registration sites and relevant areas, preventing and deterring activities that could affect security, public order, and the registration process, while facilitating citizens' ability to check their names, update data, and register freely, safely, and without disturbance.
