Navy Seizes P100 Million in Contraband in Western Mindanao

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — The Naval Command Western Mindanao (NCWM) confiscated around P100 million worth of alleged contraband in three maritime operations conducted from August 28 to September 3. Authorities reported that the seizures included undocumented diesel fuel valued at P72,172,046; smuggled foreign-brand cigarettes and a motor vessel worth P27,228,969; and illegally transported Lauan lumber valued at P251,999. The combined haul amounted to P99,653,015. Rear Admiral Constancio Arturo Reyes Jr., NCWM commander, commended the operating units and partner agencies for their vigilance and coordination. “These operations reflect NCWM’s sustained commitment to securing the maritime domain of Western Mindanao and preventing its use for smuggling and other illegal activities.
