YT (July 18) Mizzima. The “Honoring the Past, Building the Future” campaign will be held for five days to commemorate those who have fallen from Martyrs' Day to the Spring Revolution, according to the Sagaing Region Strike Force. Officials explained at a discussion held today (July 18) regarding the campaign that it is being organized to commemorate and record historical dates from July 19 to July 23, and to loudly express the voice of the people against the dictatorship. “We have been continuously carrying out preparatory activities as ground comrades. As for the campaign days, we will be campaigning for five days, from the 19th until the day Ko Jimmy and Ko Phyo Zeyar Thaw were executed,” said an official from the Sagaing Region Strike Force. It has been proposed that during the campaign, participants nationwide will wear black armbands or black clothing to honor the fallen heroes, observe one minute of silence or hold a long horn sound at 10:37 AM on July 19, march to the graves of the martyrs in various regions, plant trees, participate in ground public protests, and pray according to their respective religions. “We will be shaping it in various ways that suit the ground situation, according to the respective strike committees in each region. The methods will differ,” the official further stated. The Sagaing Region Strike Force is an organization formed in March 2021 to enable public activities to be carried out more strongly, and it includes groups and activists conducting public activities within the Sagaing Region.
