President Prabowo Praises IPDN Recruitment as Proof of Meritocracy
President Prabowo lauded the recruitment process for graduates of the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN), highlighting that top performers hailed from modest economic backgrounds, signifying the success of a meritocratic system. He emphasized the importance of equal opportunity for all citizens to serve the nation.
President Prabowo Subianto has lauded the recruitment process for graduates of the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN), stating it serves as proof that a meritocratic selection system is functioning effectively and providing equal opportunities for all citizens. Prabowo made these remarks during his address at the inauguration ceremony for the 33rd graduating class of IPDN in 2026, held at the Parade Field of the IPDN Campus in Jatinangor, Sumedang Regency, West Java, on Wednesday (29/7). According to Prabowo, a report from the Minister of Home Affairs indicated that the ten top graduates from this year's batch all come from families with modest economic backgrounds. "Before I went on stage, I received a report from the Minister of Home Affairs. 'Mr. President, the ten best graduates from this batch all come from very simple families.' I was told that some are children of laborers, some are children of farmers, and if from the TNI, they are children of non-commissioned officers," he stated. He viewed this achievement as evidence that every citizen has an equal chance to excel and dedicate themselves to the nation, unhindered by family background or economic status. Prabowo asserted that leadership in Indonesia must be filled by the best individuals who emerge through a meritocratic system. He believes that anyone with the capability, dedication, and achievement has the right to become a leader. This principle, he noted, is reflected in the success of Aji Bayu Ramadhan from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), who received the Kartika Astha Brata award as the best graduate of the 33rd IPDN batch. Bayu is the son of a construction worker and a housewife. "The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and Pancasila must be led by the best among us. Those who achieve, those who are meritocratic. Those who achieve, please step forward. This makes my heart proud," he expressed. During the event, Prabowo also urged the newly inaugurated young public administrators to firmly uphold the values inherited from the nation's founders. He implored them to perform their duties sincerely, avoid arrogance, and always be present and side with the interests of the community. "I also urge you to make your parents always proud of you. Make your alma mater proud. Most importantly, make the people of Indonesia proud of their public administrators. Congratulations on your service, congratulations on dedicating yourselves to the nation and country, and congratulations on your struggle," he concluded.
