Explosion Near DOJ Compound in Manila Under Investigation

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities are investigating a late-night explosion that occurred near the entrance of the Department of Justice (DOJ) main compound on Padre Faura Street in Manila. The blast occurred at approximately 12:17 a.m. and preliminary reports indicate the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED). “There are no reported casualties, and the Philippine National Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (PNP-EOD) Unit was immediately notified and responded to conduct a technical examination,” the DOJ said in a statement Monday.
