Thailand Pushes Pattaya-Chonburi as MICE City to Boost EEC Economy

The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has revealed plans to promote Pattaya city and Chonburi province as MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition) cities. This marks a significant step in advancing the 'EEE' project, which aims to drive industrial development and economic revitalization within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) region. The strategy hinges on leveraging the MICE industry to foster sustainable regional economic growth. This initiative is designed to create a new economic growth engine within the EEC, a key economic development zone in Thailand. Attracting and hosting MICE events is expected to generate substantial ripple effects across related industries, thereby contributing to regional economic revitalization. Specifically, by drawing in domestic and international visitors through international conferences, exhibitions, and incentive tours, the plan seeks to stimulate the service sector, including tourism, accommodation, food and beverage, and transportation. Furthermore, MICE events serve as platforms for creating new business opportunities and promoting the exchange of technology and knowledge. TCEB will enhance the competitiveness of Pattaya and Chonburi as MICE destinations by capitalizing on their existing infrastructure, tourism resources, and international accessibility. This includes support for event facility development, strengthening promotional activities, and fostering collaboration with related businesses. This plan aligns with the government's broader strategy to diversify Thailand's economy and transition towards higher value-added industries.
