Vietnam, Russia Labor Unions Sign MoU to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) and the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in Moscow on September 21. This event, part of the VGCL delegation's working visit to the Russian Federation, aims to further strengthen the long-standing solidarity and cooperation between the two labor union organizations, aligning with the deepening comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the VGCL, leading the Vietnamese delegation, stated that the cooperative relationship between the two organizations, established in August 1992, has, over nearly 35 years, contributed to enhancing the capacity for representation and the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of workers in both countries. The signing of this MoU marks a significant step forward in the relationship between the two organizations, providing a foundation to consolidate and deepen solidarity and friendship, enhance experience exchange, share information, and coordinate in areas of mutual interest, in line with the evolving demands of the labor movement. Moving forward, both sides will promote practical cooperation activities, emphasizing exchanges at various levels, training and development for trade union officials, and sharing experiences in representing, caring for, and protecting the rights and legitimate interests of laborers. They will also exchange views on emerging issues for trade unions and workers amidst digital transformation, economic development, and international integration, while strengthening coordination and mutual support in regional and international labor forums. Sergey Chernogaev, Chairman of the FNPR, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the VGCL delegation and affirmed the FNPR's high regard for its relationship with the Vietnamese trade unions. He noted that the MoU signing is a crucial milestone that will provide a stronger basis for enhanced exchanges and practical cooperation, leading to more profound and effective relations. The signing is expected to deepen understanding and friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Russia, bolstering the social and people-to-people foundation, thereby contributing positively to the consolidation and development of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership. On the same day, delegates from the VGCL and FNPR paid tribute by laying flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Moscow.
