Vietnam Secures 11 Universities in Global Engineering Rankings

Vietnam has demonstrated significant progress in higher education, with 11 universities making it into the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities for engineering rankings. This achievement underscores the nation's growing presence in the international academic landscape. The rankings, which evaluated 1,614 universities worldwide, focused on research performance from 2020 to 2024 and citations up to November 25, 2025. Engineering was the largest of the 51 subject areas assessed, using 12 indicators. Among the Vietnamese institutions, Duy Tan University in Da Nang secured the highest position at 220th globally. This places Vietnam among countries actively improving their university standings in specialized fields. In Southeast Asia, Singapore continues to lead, with Nanyang Technological University ranking second and the National University of Singapore at eighth in the global top 10. Malaysia also featured prominently with 19 universities in the rankings, indicating a regional surge in engineering education quality. Mainland China dominated the top 10 with seven universities, showcasing its strong commitment to engineering research and development. Outside of Asia, top performers included the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (U.S.) at 12th, ETH Zurich (Switzerland) at 14th, and Imperial College London (U.K.) at 19th.
