FPT Group Supports Renovation of 15 School Toilets in Quang Tri
In Vietnam's central Quang Tri province, 15 school toilet facilities are being renovated with support from FPT Group. The dilapidated facilities have negatively impacted students' health and learning environments, and these renovations will provide a hygienic setting. This initiative is part of the group's educational support program.
In Vietnam's central Quang Trị Province, approximately 2,000 students will benefit from upgraded, clean, and aesthetically pleasing toilet facilities before the new academic year, thanks to the support of FPT Group. On July 8th, in Đông Trạch commune, Quảng Trị Province, the Hope Foundation (Quỹ Hy Vọng), in collaboration with FPT Group and the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union, officially handed over five newly completed toilet facilities. These facilities were allocated to Đồng Trạch Secondary School, Lý Trạch Secondary School, Nhân Trạch No. 1 Secondary School, and Nhân Trạch Primary and Secondary School, with a total sponsorship of VND 247 million. These are the first of 15 school toilet facilities to be renovated across the communes of Hoàn Lão, Nam Trạch, Bố Trạch, Bắc Trạch, and Đông Trạch, with a total investment exceeding VND 708 million. The remaining 10 facilities are slated for completion before the start of the new academic year. Schools in the region are currently using toilet facilities built between 2005 and 2010. After years of use, many sections have severely deteriorated, exhibiting damp and peeling walls, cracked floor tiles, damaged roofs and doors, and non-functional sanitary equipment. The aging water supply and drainage systems, along with clogged septic tanks, have led to stagnant wastewater, impacting the hygiene, health, and daily routines of students and teachers. "The infrastructure has deteriorated over many years of use, especially the toilet facilities. This is a seemingly small item, but it directly affects the health, psychology, and daily activities of teachers and students," stated Ms. Trần Thị Hồng Quảng, Principal of Đồng Trạch Secondary School. To improve learning conditions for students, the Hope Foundation is implementing a comprehensive renovation of these facilities according to each school's specific needs, with the support of the 'FPT for Community' Fund under FPT Group. The renovation scope includes interior and exterior wall painting, waterproofing and crack treatment, replacement of doors, roofs, and floor tiles, upgrading sanitary equipment, repairing water supply and drainage systems, treating septic tanks, replacing electrical systems, installing partitions, and various other auxiliary items. Upon completion, the facilities will be spacious, clean, and meet the safe and convenient usage needs of students and teachers. During the handover ceremony, the 'FPT for Community' Fund also presented Đồng Trạch Secondary School with a 55-inch television, two printers, three sliding whiteboards, and 275 gift packages for students. "Today's gifts were formed from the contribution of one day's salary from our company's employees. All 15 facilities will be completed before the new school year. We hope this will contribute to providing a better learning environment for the children," said Ms. Trần Thị Thu Hà, Chairwoman of FPT Group's Trade Union and Director of the 'FPT for Community' Fund. Mr. Phạm Quang Hưởng, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union, presented gifts to students at Đồng Trạch Secondary School. Quảng Trị is one of the provinces where the Hope Foundation and FPT Group have partnered for many years in educational development activities. Previously, the two entities jointly funded the construction of one school and the renovation of five others, totaling over VND 2.3 billion. This initiative is part of the "School Light" (Ánh sáng học đường) program launched by the Hope Foundation in 2018, aiming to improve learning conditions for students in disadvantaged areas. To date, the program has supported the construction and renovation of over 600 educational facilities nationwide, contributing to a safe and well-equipped learning environment for hundreds of thousands of students.
