Japan monitors treatment of Myanmar’s incarcerated leader Aung San Suu Kyi

The Japanese government announced on 1 May that it is monitoring the situation of Aung San Suu Kyi, following reports that her prison sentence has been commuted to house arrest. Japan views this as a positive step but continues to urge for the cessation of violence and sincere political dialogue.
