Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia, hosted a training session on the government's cash transfer program for poor and vulnerable families, as well as tuk-tuk drivers affected by rising fuel prices. The program aims to improve citizen welfare, mitigate economic impacts, and reduce poverty.
Kampong Thom Province in northern Cambodia organized a training session on September 10, 2026, regarding the implementation of the government's cash transfer program. This program targets poor and vulnerable families, as well as three-wheeled taxi drivers affected by the surge in fuel prices. The event was attended by Mr. Chhe Vanchann, Deputy Governor of Kampong Thom Province. Mr. Chhe Vanchann expressed gratitude to the National Social Assistance Fund under the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation for its support and capacity building for national-level implementers, ensuring the effective and efficient execution of social assistance programs. He also commended the provincial branch of the National Social Assistance Fund, relevant ministries, district/municipal/commune authorities, and local operators for their responsible participation in implementing the government's social assistance programs, particularly in providing benefits to citizens who are poor and vulnerable. The Deputy Governor emphasized that the 7th mandate government of Cambodia, led by Prime Minister Hun Manet, continues to focus on building and strengthening the social protection system in a concentrated, coherent, and effective manner, guided by the spirit of "leaving no citizen behind." These social assistance programs aim to improve citizen welfare, support poor and vulnerable families, mitigate economic impacts, contribute to poverty reduction, and promote sustainable human resource and economic development. The Kampong Thom Provincial Administration will continue to support, promote, monitor, and facilitate the implementation of the program in the locality to ensure that citizens within the target groups receive adequate, timely, and effective benefits from the government's social assistance programs. The training session aims to enhance the understanding and capacity of officials and relevant operators at the local level in implementing the cash transfer program more effectively, transparently, and responsively to the needs of the citizens.
