Saigon Tiền Giang Eye Hospital in Tiền Giang province has received the iCare DRSplus retinal imaging system technology from ParagonCare Vietnam on July 1. The company also provided training on operational procedures to support the hospital in effectively utilizing the system in clinical practice. The iCare DRSplus is a retinal imaging system from iCare, utilizing Confocal TrueColor LED technology for concentric scanning image generation. This device allows for the capture of high-resolution retinal images, aiding in the observation of the retina across various clinical situations, even when the eye's optical environment is affected by certain degrees of cataract. According to hospital representatives, the screening, diagnosis, and early detection of retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma previously faced significant challenges due to the technical limitations of older generations of imaging machines. With the iCare DRSplus system, the hospital expects to optimize its clinical examination and treatment processes through its new technological features. One of the key features of the iCare DRSplus is its ability to operate automatically, with a short capture time, and the capacity to image with pupils as small as 2.5 mm without requiring dilation in many cases. This helps reduce examination time and offers greater convenience for both patients and medical staff. Furthermore, the scanning confocal imaging technology minimizes the impact of scattered light, providing highly detailed retinal images that assist doctors in evaluating retinal lesions, monitoring disease progression, and developing appropriate treatment plans. At the handover ceremony, a representative from the Board of Directors of Saigon Tiền Giang Eye Hospital emphasized that investing in international-standard equipment like the iCare DRSplus demonstrates the hospital's ongoing commitment to improving the quality of its medical services. This will provide residents in Đồng Tháp and surrounding provinces with access to high-tech diagnostic methods locally, eliminating the need to travel to central-level hospitals.
