Cambodia and Myanmar to Sign Four Cooperation Agreements

Cambodia and Myanmar are set to sign four agreements to strengthen cooperation and relations between the two countries during the state visit of Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing to Cambodia. The agreements will be signed after President Min Aung Hlaing meets with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace on the afternoon of September 11, 2026. This was confirmed by Mr. Chea Thireth, spokesperson for the Senate and First Deputy Chief of Cabinet of the Senate President, during a press conference on the afternoon of September 11, 2026, regarding the potential meeting between Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Cambodia's Acting Head of State, and Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing. Mr. Chea Thireth stated that during discussions with Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the morning of September 11, many important points were agreed upon by both parties. Within the operational framework led by Prime Minister Hun Manet, four agreements will be signed with the Myanmar side. "These four agreements all provide significant value for the interests of both countries and support the relationship between Cambodia and Myanmar, both within the framework of investors and in jointly protecting investors," Mr. Chea Thireth stated. He explained that these agreements will help promote investment between the two countries, offering better protection and conditions for Cambodian investors going to Myanmar and for Myanmar investors coming to Cambodia. Beyond investment, he added that the agreements to be signed also relate to other important sectors for the relationship between the two countries, such as politics, trade, education, and information. According to Mr. Chea Thireth's confirmation, these agreements will further contribute to strengthening Cambodia-Myanmar relations and cooperation, as well as create opportunities for the two countries to work together more closely. Mr. Chea Thireth added that President Min Aung Hlaing's visit to Cambodia is part of the effort to promote the relationship between the two countries for further development and broader cooperation.
