Port and Maritime Affairs Discussion Meeting Held

A discussion meeting on ports and maritime affairs was held on the morning of September 23rd at Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel in Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township, Yangon, to commemorate World Maritime Day. The event was jointly organized and held under the guidance of the Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of Navigation and the Myanmar Port Authority, in collaboration with China Harbour Engineering Co.,Ltd and the China Rural Development Foundation (Myanmar Office). China Harbour Engineering Co.,Ltd's Executive Managing Director, Mr. Cao Dianwei, stated that the meeting was held with the objectives of strengthening cooperation with various social organizations and creating more avenues for collaboration. The discussion covered topics such as sharing Myanmar's innovative coastal maritime transport experiences, building eco-friendly smart technology ports, linking project planning with policy and practical implementation, evaluating the performance of Yangon Container Port based on technology, and practical aspects and prospects of port engineering technology and collaboration. U Hla Myo Kyaw, Director General of the Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of Navigation, said that relevant departments need to participate and work together on the points obtained from the discussion meeting. The meeting will be held for two days and will work towards maritime management, port construction, long-term development of maritime transport, reaching the right path, and achieving common consensus. It is also known that efforts will be accelerated to improve the efficiency of port operations and enhance maritime management efficiency.
