Cambodia Explores Chinese Tech for Infrastructure and Transport Management
Cambodian Minister of Public Works and Transport, Peng Ponea, visited China to study advanced technologies in overweight vehicle management and asphalt paving. The aim is to apply these learnings to enhance domestic infrastructure and transport efficiency, signaling strengthened tech cooperation with China.
On September 19-20, 2026, H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, led a delegation on a study tour to China. The delegation visited Guangdong Hongsheng Technology Co., Ltd., a company specializing in smart transportation technology, particularly in the management of overweight vehicles. They also visited Zhongchang Huarui (Hainan) Transportation Energy Co., Ltd., which is an expert in asphalt paving and modified asphalt concrete production technology. The purpose of this visit was to study and learn from best practices in technical expertise and new technologies for intelligent transportation management. This includes the modernization of weighbridge station management, the development of systems for managing overweight transport vehicles, and advanced methods for producing high-quality asphalt paving materials. This exchange of experience is expected to significantly contribute to managing and reducing overweight vehicles in Cambodia. It also aims to develop the road infrastructure sector more efficiently in line with modern technologies. The initiative underscores Cambodia's commitment to leveraging technological advancements from international partners to enhance its infrastructure and transport capabilities.
