It is planned to provide support for the enhancement of the capacity of rural women and the promotion of their socio-economic development, as 70 percent of Myanmar's population resides in rural areas, said Daw San San Nwe, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Women's Affairs. This statement was made by Deputy Minister Daw San San Nwe in response to a question raised by U Aye Chan, the People's Hluttaw representative for Hlaing Thar Yar (East) constituency, on the 24th day of the 2nd regular session of the 3rd Hluttaw, held on July 16, asking about the measures to be taken to inform the public about the new objectives and future work plans of the Ministry of Women's Affairs. It is said that vocational training and capacity building programs will be expanded and opened in accordance with regional needs, with the aim of increasing women's economic capabilities and income. Furthermore, Deputy Minister Daw San San Nwe stated that efforts will be intensified to support the start-up of businesses and market control, to connect and provide employment opportunities, and to support women in disaster-affected areas.
