Bangkok Declares 3 Districts Facing Flood Disaster

Bangkok has officially declared three districts – Nong Chok, Suan Luang, and Kannayao – as disaster areas due to severe flooding. This announcement empowers relevant agencies to carry out their duties comprehensively and swiftly. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, in his capacity as Director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, signed the declaration on September 25, 2024, following the impact of the floods which have made travel and access to the affected areas extremely difficult. The declared areas encompass a total of 13 sub-districts across the three districts: Nong Chok District (8 sub-districts): Krathum Rai, Nong Chok, Khlong Sib, Khlong Sip Song, Khok Faet, Khu Fang Nuea, Lam Phak Chi, and Lam Toi Ting. Suan Luang District (3 sub-districts): On Nut, Pattanakarn, and Suan Luang. Kannayao District (2 sub-districts): Ramintra and Kannayao. The declaration is intended to allow relevant agencies to operate within the affected areas and manage the situation rapidly, in accordance with their authorities. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will continue to monitor the situation closely and will proceed with further declarations if other areas meet the criteria for disaster area designation.
