Cambodia Shooting Federation Charts New Course for International Competitiveness

The Cambodia Shooting Federation has unveiled five key recommendations for its new term from 2026 to 2030, aiming to further develop the sport and elevate it to international standards. These were announced during the federation's general assembly, which marked the end of its third term and the continuation into its fourth term (2026-2030), held on the evening of September 12, 2026, at the NOCC headquarters. President Sok Puthyvuth pledged to lead the new term with five crucial recommendations. These include strongly promoting development to match regional and global standards, enhancing good relations with international shooting federations and related bodies, encouraging the establishment of more clubs to broaden the base of male and female athletes, developing international-standard training facilities that incorporate both online and in-person training, establishing a proper organizational structure by department and specialty, creating a Facebook page or website for the federation, and setting up a youth training school. Concurrently, Secretary-General Sin Sopannak presented a summary report on the activities of the Cambodia Shooting Federation during its third term (2022-2026), detailing achievements and outlining goals for the new term. Key objectives for the upcoming period include the construction of an international standard shooting range. This involves seeking policy approval and cooperation from the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport and the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia to create a modern, environmentally friendly shooting range equipped with electronic systems, suitable for training and preparing for national and international competitions. Another focus is the development of talented youth, or a youth academy. A select youth team (aged 12-16) will be formed and trained to become highly capable athletes for international competitions, aiming to win medals for the nation. The mission towards Los Angeles 2028 involves selecting the best athletes and providing them with high-level training to secure opportunities to compete in the 2028 Olympics in the United States. Furthermore, training for referees and technical officials will be conducted. Local coaches and referees will be sent to attend international courses organized by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) to obtain officially recognized certificates. It is noteworthy that the general assembly unanimously voted to support the new executive committee for the 2026-2030 term, comprising 27 members led by HE Sok Puthyvuth. The six vice presidents include HE Wat Chamroeun, Neak Oknha Tei Naravuth, HE Miech Sovithikar David, HE Ho Sithykun, HE Lim Huonita, and Major General Keo Hokly. HE Sin Sopannak will serve as Secretary-General, supported by five deputy secretaries-general, Mr. Pov Techleng as Treasurer, and 12 other members.
