Over 6 Billion Kyats to be Lent to Earthquake Victims and Some Businesses

It has been learned from the Central Committee for Supervising the Reconstruction Fund for Areas Affected by the Strong Mandalay Earthquake that screening and approval have been carried out to enable the disbursement of a total loan amount of 6.86 billion kyats for 3 civil servants and 7 businesses among those affected by the strong Mandalay earthquake. At the meeting of the Central Committee for Supervising the Reconstruction Fund for Areas Affected by the Strong Mandalay Earthquake, held on August 3 at the Zammbuteeri Hall of the Central Bank of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw, the loan was screened and approved. Among the 10 banks and 2 finance companies approved in the loan program, 6 banks and one finance company submitted 11 loan cases at the meeting, and the members of the Central Committee screened and approved a loan amount of 6.86 billion kyats for a total of 10 loans, including 3 civil servants and 7 businesses. Dr. Khin Naing Oo, Chairman of the Central Committee and Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, stated at the meeting that the Central Committee for Supervising the Reconstruction Fund was formed and tasked with providing international contributions and loan programs to support the reconstruction of the public and businesses in the earthquake-affected areas. The strong Mandalay earthquake caused damage and losses, including to civil servants, in 6 regions and states, including the federal capital Nay Pyi Taw.
